Tri-Council Canada Graduate Scholarships

Every year the government of Canada provides millions of dollars in scholarship funding to graduate student researchers through the Tri-Council Agencies. These high-value awards require extensive scholarship applications to showcase academic, community, and leadership success. Applications are due in October for graduate students in PhD programs, and December for graduate students in Master’s programs. It is important to note that the initial adjudication process for these awards is an internal competition at Trent. As such, the deadline to apply to these awards differs from the information posted on the external webpages. Always refer to Trent’s deadlines to apply found here when preparing your scholarships applications. If you have any questions or would like more information about awards, please contact Jane Rennie.

Graduate students applying for Tri-Council Agency funding at the Doctoral level will do so to one (1) of the following agencies: Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), or Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). If you are unsure about which agency to apply to please contact your supervisor or Jane Rennie. Graduate students applying for Tri-Council funding at the Master’s level apply using the same application portal regardless of which agency they fall in to.
