All graduate students are welcomed to nominate either themselves or another member for vacant positions posted below. Students must fill out a nomination form which can be downloaded at this link, and must be sent to President or VP Internal Affairs during the nomination period (September 15th, 2026-October 15th, 2026). Late submissions will not be accepted.

Our Fall General Meeting (FGM) will be held on Thursday October 22nd, 2026 where executives’ and commissioners’ report, financial report and changes in TGSA Bylaws & Policies will be presented, discussed and voted on. During our FGM, the nominees will be given a chance to give speeches. All graduate students are encouraged to attend to hear what the TGSA has been working on and give valuable input. Registration for the Fall General Meeting will open in October.

Voting period for nominees will be begin the morning after the FGM for a period of one week until Friday October 30th 2026 via Qualtrics.

VP Student Affairs

Are you organized, personable, and interested in event planning? Do you get a thrill from an empty email inbox? Have you ever wanted to learn how to take really good meeting minutes? If so, this might just be the role for you! The Vice President of Student Affairs is responsible for the following:

• Gather reports from board members, generate monthly agendas, schedules monthly board of directors’ meetings, takes all meeting minutes, posts minutes to website;
• Develops and delivers a program of monthly events from September- April including one social event in July, one Orientation week event in September, one holiday event in December, and one year-end event in April as is permitted by the ratified budget;
• Supports the commissioners in hosting one event each per year (3 total) which can double as a monthly event. Coordinate with Durham representative to host one event on the Durham campus/term;
• Monitor the VP Student Affairs email inbox and the GSA email inbox;
• Manages and monitors social media accounts;
• Updates the TGSA website as needed;
• Sits on committees assigned by the VP Senate;  

Should be prepared to travel to the Durham and Peterborough campuses regularly to host events and attend meetings and have access to a vehicle to transport event supplies. 

Must not be employed by another student group, association, or union on campus pursuant to Section 12 of the TGSA By-Laws.

International Student Commissioner

Are you an international student who is passionate about the experiences and conditions of your peers? Are you friendly and welcoming? We would love to hear from you!

The International Student Commissioner is responsible for the following:

• To identify issues pertaining to International Students;
• To represent the interest of International Students to the Board of Directors;
• To be familiar with the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP) and to help educate International Students and answer questions about this plan;
• To consult with Trent International regarding student issues regarding UHIP and the UHIP Health and Dental Benefits Plan;To advertise the CUPE 3908 UHIP reimbursement that international students can apply for through social media and the School of Graduate Studies School of Graduate Studies Listserv via the Vice President of Student Affairs (Secretary) in association with the CUPE 3908 Representative;
• To consult with the Vice President of Student Affairs (Secretary) when dealing with General Membership grievances related to international students;
• To be familiar with the Trent International department at the University, the resources it provides to international students, and its events;
• To advertise Trent International programs, services, and events through social media in collaboration with the VP Student Affairs
• To co-host one event a year with the VP Student Affairs. 

Must be an international graduate student at Trent University.

Durham Representative

Are you a graduate student registered at the Durham Campus? Are you curious about the issues faced by other graduate students on the Durham campus and interested in representing them on the TGSA board of directors? Have you been itching to get some experience on a committee? Reach out today!

The Durham Representative

• Represent interests of graduate students studying at Trent’s Durham campus
• Be familiar with TGSA By-laws and relevant university policies
• Support student groups at the Durham Campus
• Collaborate with VP Student Affairs to plan and host events at the Durham Campus.
• Sit on committees assigned by the VP Senate.

Must be a graduate student registered at the Durham Campus in the 2026-2027 academic year.
