TGSA Elections

Want to get involved with the TGSA? Interested in advocating for the graduate student body?

Here is your chance!!

All graduate students are welcomed to nominate either themselves or another member. Nominations should include a 200-word statement and must be sent to President or VP Student Affairs during the nomination period (January 26th-February 2nd 2026 ).

Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held in February 24th 2026 where executives’ and commissioners’ report, financial report and changes in TGSA Bylaws & Policies will be presented, discussed and voted on. During our AGM, the nominees will be given a chance to give speeches. All graduate students are encouraged to attend to hear what the TGSA has been working on and give valuable input. Voting period for nominees will be begin the morning after the AGM for a period of one week (date to be announced) via Qualtrics.

Master’s Science Representative

Descriptions

VP Student Affairs

  • Gathers reports, generates agendas, schedules monthly board of directors’ meetings, takes all meeting minutes, posts minutes to website.
  • Develops and delivers a program of monthly events from September- April including one social event in July, one Orientation week event in September, one holiday event in December, and one year-end event in April as is permitted by the ratified budget. 
  • Supports the commissioners in hosting one event each per year (3 total) which can double as a monthly event. Coordinate with Durham representative to host one event on the Durham campus/term. 
  • Monitor the VP Student Affairs email inbox
  • Help to manage and monitor social media accounts
  • Update the TGSA website as needed
  • Sit on committees assigned by the VP Senate. 

Should be prepared to travel to the Durham and Peterborough campuses regularly to host events and attend meetings and have access to a vehicle to transport event supplies. 

Must not be employed by another student group on campus pursuant to Section 12 of the TGSA By-Laws.

VP Internal Affairs

  • Present budgets at general meetings and to the board of directors in collaboration with the Student Support Coordinator and Accountant
  • To serve as a co-signer for the TGSA financial accounts
  • To ensure compliance with the TGSA by-laws and the Not-for-Profit Corporations Act
  • Organize and host elections and by-elections
  • Organize and manage referenda in accordance with the TGSA By-Laws
  • Help to manage and distribute honoraria 
  • Monitor the VP Internal Affairs email inbox
  • Sit on committees assigned by the VP Senate. 

Should be able to travel to the Peterborough campus and area semi-regularly to attend meetings and appointments at our bank. 

Must not be employed by another student group on campus pursuant to Section 12 of the TGSA By-Laws.

Durham Representative

  • Represent interests of graduate students studying at Trent’s Durham campus
  • Be familiar with TGSA By-laws and relevant university policies
  • Support student groups at the Durham Campus
  • Collaborate with VP Student Affairs to plan and host events at the Durham Campus.
  • Sit on committees assigned by the VP Senate.

Must be a graduate student registered at the Durham Campus in the 2026-2027 academic year.

Master’s Science Representative

  • Represent interests of graduate students registered in one of the below listed M.Sc graduate degrees. 
  • Be familiar with TGSA By-laws and relevant university policies
  • Support relevant student groups
  • Sit on committees assigned by the VP Senate.

Must be a graduate student registered in one of the following programs during the 2026-2027 year. 

M.Sc. Applied Modelling and Quantitative Methods; 

M.Sc. Bioenvironmental Monitoring and Assessment; 

M.Sc.. Environmental and Life Sciences;

 M.Sc.. Materials Science; 

M.Sc. Psychology; 

M.Sc.N Nursing;

 M.ICA. Instrumental Chemical Analysis; 

M.Sc. Big Data Analytics;

 M.Sc. Financial Analytics; 

M.Sc.F.S Forensic Science
