Research-Thesis Final Steps
Once your committee believes you have done a sufficient amount of work to complete your thesis, and they have approved the final (permitted there are no changes recommended at the defence) version of your thesis, there are a number of steps to complete before your defence:
1. Each member of your committee must complete the Step I Form. This form must be requested from the department in which you are completing your degree. Each member of your committee must individually submit their completed form to the departmental office.
2. Once your examination committee has been assembled and a date for the defence has been set, each member of the examination committee must complete the Step II Form. This form must be requested from the department in which you are completing your degree. Each member of your committee must individually submit their completed form to the departmental office at least one (1) week before the defence.
3. Following a successful defence you must share the final draft of your thesis and/or dissertation. One (1) PDF copy will be sent to [email protected] with “FINAL THESIS” in the subject line, one (1) PDF copy will be uploaded to ProQuest ETD Administrator, and several copies (the exact number will be provided to you) will be bound and kept at Trent at your expense. Information about final thesis and/or dissertation binding will be provided by the School of Graduate Studies. Additional information about the dissemination of your research can be found here.
4. Apply to graduate through the myTrent portal.
